Taveuni is ‘The Soft Coral Capital of the World’ and Paradise is in the heart of it. Paradise Dive is owned and operated by Paradise Taveuni and is located on site within the Resort grounds. Paradise owner, Allan Gortan, is one of our Resort Dive Instructors and he and Fijian Dive Instructor, Christine Riley, lead our Paradise PADI Dive Team.

Vuna reef is an amazing underwater paradise. Vuna reef is located on the southern tip of Taveuni island and is a purely magical place. It has more than 10 specific dive sites with its own special features and each attracting a variety of different marine life. A holiday in Taveuni without diving the Vuna reef is an incomplete vacation. Here you will find beautiful orange and pink corals that contrasts with its brilliant blue ocean water.

Coral Reefs represent one of the world’s most spectacular beauty spots. The mention of coral reefs generally brings to mind warm climates, colorful fishes and clear waters. However, the reef itself is actually a component of a larger ecosystem. They are the foundation of the marine ecosystem, housing tens of thousands of marine species. Many divers come to Paradise Taveuni just to witness the excellent soft coral blooms.

Diving around Bohol, on the trip to familiarize myself with it included a juvenile mimic scorpion fish, so many turtles, electric file clam, stick pipe fish, schools of jacks, schools of barracuda, bat fish, white frog fish, Napolean snake eel, thorny seahorse cowfish, giant barracuda, whip coral gobies,  large and various nudibranchs (Aegires Minor and Jorunna Funebris to name the most impressive), peacock mantis, smashing mantis, Pyma shell, lion fish, anemone fish, and Pederson shrimp, all in all very fishy.  The reefs are mini walls with sandy bottoms in about 20 – 30 meters.  They also have some good muck diving although it’s sandy bottom instead of muck.  The walls are full of hard and soft corals, gorgonian sea fans, most of the walls have healthy shallow areas that make for a great safety stop or even for snorkeling.

Here at the Arenui, we have built a stunning wooden vessel that offers a taste of the local culture (a traditional Indonesian Phinisi) but fitted it with all the modern conveniences of a luxury hotel. We designed spacious boutique cabins that once again invite our guests to enjoy the country they’re visiting (local handicrafts and inspirations).

We added a luxury restaurant serving international and local cuisine (evenings are waiter served a-la carte) and added both an outdoor sky restaurant and a top-deck sky lounge for massages, sunbathing, relaxing and enjoying the island views.

Then we trained up an enthusiastic local crew, including two highly sought-after chefs and four eagle-eyed dive guides and four western cruise directors. With a total of 24 team members, our 16 guests are guaranteed a truly personalized service.
